"Gold miners, for the most part, are some of the most ingenious people I know.  Able to fix just about anything, and come up with the 'gosh darndest' things that actually work!  This old miner stands ready at his tent to defend his setup that he has worked hard on, and which is now paying off.  He's hoping this encounter will end peaceably, and the brazen bear will go on about his business elsewhere on Quartz Creek."
